I really wish they'd just stop with the cat stuff in horror movies. It's not needed to tell the story 95% of the time. It's not making things ominous, looming, darker or for shock factor. It's honestly just disgusting. Nobody blinks an eye though because it's always the cats and never the dogs. If it was a sweet little puppy, these movies probably wouldn't even get made.
